Connect your AI agent
Connect NanoSite to the AI agent you already use (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI or any other app that supports MCP) and run your store or website from that chat. The agent can do what the AI builder in NanoSite does: add and edit products, look at orders, manage add-ons, and change pages, sections and text. You don't download anything, and you don't need to be a developer. Everything happens on your NanoSite project.
Coming soon. The NanoSite connector isn't available yet. This page shows how it will work.
What you need
- A NanoSite account with at least one store or website.
- An AI app that supports remote MCP servers. The steps for the most common ones are below.
Every app uses the same connector:
| URL | https://nanosite.ai/api/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Sign-in | OAuth: your app opens a NanoSite page where you log in and click Allow |
Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Name it
NanoSite, pastehttps://nanosite.ai/api/mcpas the URL and click Add. - Click Connect, log in to NanoSite if you need to, and click Allow.
- In a chat, turn on NanoSite in the tools menu.
A connector you add on claude.ai also shows up in Claude Desktop and the mobile apps. If you don't see Add custom connector, your plan may not include custom connectors, or your organization's admin has to add it.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http nanosite https://nanosite.ai/api/mcp
Then run /mcp, pick nanosite and choose Authenticate.
ChatGPT
- Open Settings → Apps & Connectors. Custom connectors may need Developer mode, under Advanced settings, depending on your plan.
- Click Create, name it
NanoSite, pastehttps://nanosite.ai/api/mcpand choose OAuth. - Sign in to NanoSite and click Allow.
- In a chat, add NanoSite from the tools menu.
Cursor
Add NanoSite to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):
{
"mcpServers": {
"nanosite": { "url": "https://nanosite.ai/api/mcp" }
}
}
Open Cursor Settings → MCP and click Login next to nanosite.
VS Code (GitHub Copilot)
Add NanoSite to .vscode/mcp.json, or run MCP: Add Server from the command palette:
{
"servers": {
"nanosite": { "type": "http", "url": "https://nanosite.ai/api/mcp" }
}
}
Start the server from the file or the MCP Servers view and sign in when asked. Use Copilot Chat in Agent mode.
Gemini CLI
Add NanoSite to ~/.gemini/settings.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"nanosite": { "httpUrl": "https://nanosite.ai/api/mcp" }
}
}
Then run /mcp auth nanosite in Gemini CLI.
Any other MCP app
Add a remote MCP server with the URL https://nanosite.ai/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Your app needs to
support MCP sign-in (OAuth): it finds the NanoSite login page on its own, and you click Allow.
What to ask
Start by saying which project you mean. The agent can list your projects if you're not sure.
- "In my Candle Co store, add a product: Lavender soy candle, $24, 30 in stock."
- "Which orders from this week haven't shipped yet?"
- "Add a 10% off code SPRING for the next two weeks."
- "Make the homepage hero full width and change the headline to 'Hand-poured in Lisbon'."
- "Add a short FAQ section to the About page of my website."
NanoSite marks every tool that changes or deletes something, so apps that ask before acting (most do) ask you first. Turning an add-on on or off always needs your clear yes in the chat.
See and publish your changes
Changes to your pages and code land in your project's draft. Nothing is live until you publish. To see them, open the project in NanoSite (ask the agent for the link) and use the preview there. When you're happy, publish from NanoSite as usual.
Store data, like products, prices and discount codes, is not part of the draft: it changes right away, the same as when you edit it in NanoSite.
Works together with the AI builder
Your agent and the AI builder in NanoSite work on the same project. Changes the agent makes show up in the builder's chat, and you can undo them from the builder's restore list like any other change.
Your account and safety
- The agent only reaches the projects you're a member of, with the permissions you allowed.
- Payment keys and other secrets are never shown to the agent. When one is needed, NanoSite asks you to enter it on nanosite.ai.
To disconnect, remove the connector in your app, or revoke it under Account settings → Connected apps and devices on NanoSite. Each connection is listed by the app's name. If you connected the same app on more than one computer, each one is listed and revoked separately.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The agent says it has no NanoSite tools | Turn on NanoSite in the chat's tools menu, or check the app's MCP settings. |
| The approval page says the request is invalid or expired | Connect again from your app; the page is valid for a few minutes. |
| "Project not found, or you don't have access to it" | Log in to NanoSite with the account that owns the project, then reconnect. |
| "NanoSite's AI builder is working on this project right now" | The builder is in the middle of a change. Try again in a minute. |
| The app keeps asking to sign in | Disconnect and connect again. If you revoked it on NanoSite, that's expected. |
